Todd Akin is running for senate. If elected, he’ll be one of a body of 100 who make decisions that effect not just what happens in this country, but globally. He’ll have a platform from which he can turn a lot of what he believes into policy. Which makes all the crazy shit he believes really freaking scary when it should just be shockingly ignorant and out-of-touch.

Not only has he compared student loans to socialist, stage-three cancer, he also believes that abortions are only necessary for illegitimate rape. I don’t know how you tell the different either.



That’s right. All those women who have cried rape and then got an abortion apparently didn’t try hard enough during the rape to NOT get pregnant. Legitimate rapes don’t result in pregnancy. No, he’s not a doctor. No, he has no idea what he’s talking about.

Todd Akin should be the crazy grandfather who embarrasses you when you bring your friends over, not someone with the power to vote for our next Supreme Court Justice. Think about that. Ruth Bader Ginsburg isn’t getting any younger.

FYI, he is running against Claire McCaskill, who has a 100% rating from Planned Parenthood. Know what Akin’s score is? A zero.
